Willowlee Sod Farm - Ameliasburg, ON


Step into a challenging, high pressure, rewarding career as Willowlee’s new sod harvester operator. For this position we need a fast-learner who comes to us with farm equipment experience.

Your Skills: we are looking for someone who already

  • Operates tractors and farm equipment
  • Has forklift experience
  • Has a clean G licence
  • Has a fantastic attitude and likes to be kept occupied with necessary odd jobs around the farm

Position Requirements

The Position: we will train you to do things like

  • Operate our specific sod harvesting machines.
  • Maintain the sod harvesting machine or field mowers
  • Perform quality control as you harvest the sod
  • Load skids of sod onto transports

We cut the order of sod fresh each day. You will start around 3:30am so we can get the trucks loaded and sod delivered to contractors and vendors between port hope and Gananoque in a timely manner. Once you complete our training program, you will be responsible for quality control. We offer $19-22/hour to start, with room for raises and promotions based on skills and work ethic. Typically, you’ll work about 45-50 hours a week. We are aiming to have a start date of May 1. It could be earlier or later depending on weather. We will work until the ground freezes, normally around November and sometimes later in the year if possible. Winter employment in snow removal is offered.
