The Position: We are looking for a sod install crew labourer who

  • Has a fantastic attitude
  • Is willing to work outside in all conditions
  • Is happy to do manual labour
  • Is eager to impress and do a great job
  • Is fit but not necessarily “super strong” *
  • Is punctual and reliable.

We offer $17/hour to start, with room for raises and promotions based on skills and work ethic. Typically, as long as we don’t get ‘rained-out’ we will work about 45-50 hours each week. We aim to have a start date each year of May 1. It could be earlier or later depending on weather. We will work until the ground freezes, normally around November and sometimes later in the year if possible. Winter employment in snow removal is offered.

Each day we travel together to a different jobsite anywhere between Port Hope and Gananoque and sometimes as far north as Bancroft. Usually we will be working in Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Belleville or Kingston. We do a combination of industrial and residential jobs.

*A “Sod Bod” (defined as a body with specific sod moving muscles developed) will be built throughout the season. A typical roll of sod is 20-30 pounds and you will handle hundreds each day.
