Food Service Worker (Dietary Aide)

Education/Training/Certifications
- Must have Safe Food handlers course
- Clean criminal background check including vulnerable sectors check
- Successful completion or enrolment in a Food Service Worker program (with proof of registration)(must be completed no later than 3 years from date of hire) at a college established under the Ontario Colleges of Applied Art and Technology Act or a Food Service Program provided by a registered private college
OR
- Successful completion of an apprenticeship and Certification Act or the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act
OR
- Has entered into a registered training agreement in the trade of Cook, Institutional Cook or Assistant Cook under the Apprenticeship and Certification Act or the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act
OR
- Has worked as a Food Service Worker in a long-term care home on a full-time basis for at least 3 years during the 5 years immediately before hire or on a part-time basis for the equivalent of at least 3 full-time years during the 7 years immediately before hire
Position Requirements
Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring that the appropriate requirements of all legislation which affect the operation of the dietary department are met
- Assists in the preparation and serving of food samples, meals nourishments following dietary guidelines and resident preference
- Follows all sanitation and safe food handling regulations, policies and procedures related to quality assurance, safety and infection control, ensuring work and living area are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition for staff and residents
- Perform other duties as required
- May be cross trained in Housekeeping position as well
