Position Requirements
Pegasus Cheer Athletics is looking for dynamic individuals to join our Summer Camp team as Summer Camp Counsellors.
The Summer Camp Counsellor is responsible for ensuring children enrolled at Pegasus Cheer Athletics’ summer camps experience fitness, friends, and fun in a safe and positive environment. Training for all activities will be provided. This position will report to the Summer Camp Coordinator and Recreational Director.
Responsibilities:
- Leads a cohort of 12 children in their daily routines, activities, and crafts
- Assists with safe check-in and sign-out of campers
- Provides supervision of campers
- Assists in the daily preparation and clean-up of camp programs, ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipment
- Leads and prepares activities for before and after care camp programs
- Ensuring camp sessions are running smoothly by developing and leading different games and activities for campers aged 4 – 12 to engage in
- Engaging with each camper as they work through activities, and showing an interest in each camper as they work through activities
- Ensuring that campers under your care are treated equally, consistently, and fairly
- Ensuring the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of campers
- Collaborates with other camp staff to create a fun and inclusive environment
- Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents, to Summer Camp Coordinator
- Creates and maintains a positive camp environment by demonstrating a team-player attitude, and sharing the responsibility of keeping the camp environment clean and organized
- In-person communication with the caregiver during camper drop-off and pick-up
- Acts a positive role model for children, youth, and fellow staff by embodying the values of Pegasus Cheer Athletics and following all camp guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Being self-confident and able to accept and adopt constructive feedback
- Other duties as required
