Education/Training/Certifications

Educational Requirements

  • Two year College diploma in the field of Early Childhood Education or University Degree in child development, family studies or a related field. If an Early Childhood Educator, the successful candidate must maintain a current membership in good standing with the College of ECE.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Two years related experience in the field of Early Childhood Education.
  • Good working knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA).
  • Experience in program planning, pedagogical documentation and evaluation.
  • Up-to-date First Aid/CPR-C certification.
  • Up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Up-to-date immunizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve outcomes.
  • Must be reliable, flexible, and effectively work in a team environment
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Position Requirements

Position Summary

The HUB Child & Family Centre (The HUB) has served the children and families of Prince Edward County since 1989. We are dedicated to providing quality licensed child care and early learning. We do this through a number of programs and services that focus on children infant to 13 years old and their families.

The Registered Early Childhood Educator will report to the Program Manager. You will plan, organize, and initiate activities to help children develop and learn intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner consistent with the philosophy, goals and mission of The HUB. You could be working with infants, toddlers and preschool aged children.

You will build relationships with parents and other partner professionals.

Additional Duties Include

  • Performing physical activity including but not limited to bending, kneeling, twisting, running and standing for long periods.
  • Ability to independently supervise a group of children monitoring each child at all times.
  • Ability to supervise and assess risks to children.
  • Ability to act quickly and concisely in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to perform safety checks in all areas where child care is provided and mitigate risks to children.
  • Independently supervise a group of children.
