Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma – preferred candidate will have college diploma in Public relations, event coordination, or business.
- Must be well organized and have experience juggling multiple projects and priorities
- Significant experience with developing content for social media posting on both Facebook & Instagram
- Ability to update and manage content development on a WordPress platform
- Ability to work with spreadsheets & photo editing software
- Good communication skills and able to work well in a team environment
Position Requirements
In partnership with the Belleville Chamber of Commerce through Discover Belleville, and under contract by the City of Belleville, we are seeking a PopUps Coordinator.
The City of Belleville has developed and managed the “Pop-Ups on the Bay” business venture at West Zwick’s Park for several years now and this tourism product has grown in popularity since its initiation. In 2022, the Pop-Ups on the Bay project included 9 seasonal vendors, two seasonal food trucks and four spaces for rotating retail vendors and food trucks. The position will be responsible for dealing with all vendors, seeking and scheduling rotating vendors, coordinating complimentary activities around the Pop-up area, working with local visitor services staff and supplying a visitor services kiosk at the site, organizing events, social media content development and posting and looking after the day-to-day operations of the Pop-ups.
Once the Pop-up’s on the Bay season is complete, the Coordinator will turn their efforts toward supporting the Downtown District Holiday Market which will include the development of several vendor locations in Downtown Belleville throughout the holiday season. This project will also require the coordination of events, vendors and organizations and individuals to ensure the project is successful. This position requires a self-motivated individual that can work independently as well as in a group/team environment.
Job Duties:
The position will work on the following initiatives as well as other priorities as they are developed:
- Provide support and coordination for all Pop-up’s on the Bay vendors, guests and organizers;
- Liaise with City Staff to ensure all infrastructure and support is in place for all vendors and visitors;
- Plan, co-ordinate and execute activities, entertainment and experiences in and around the Pop-up area;
- Organize the seasonal closing of the Pop-up project;
- Manage and co-ordinate some aspects of the repairs and maintenance required at the Pop-ups;
- Staff and greet customers at the Discover Belleville booth at pop-up’s as required;
- Provide support and assistance in the development of the Holiday Market;
- Execute expenditures upon approval of manager per project budget.
Hours of work and job requirements:
- Hours of work are Wednesday to Sunday, 10:30am to 7 pm during Pop-up’s on the Bay season, with adjusted hours/work days during non-Pop-up/Holiday Market days (35 hours per week until December 29, 2023) Additional hours may be required.
- Rate of pay: $26/hour
- Location of work: Pop-up’s on the Bay at West Zwick’s Park and Belleville Chamber of Commerce as required.
- Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
