Education/Training/Certifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Completed post-secondary in a related field such as Architectural Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Has obtained a minimum level certification of qualifications in House, HVAC House, Plumbing House, On-Site Sewage, House and General Legal, from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
  • CBCO certification through the Ontario Building Officials Association is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in enforcement of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience working with various By-Laws, the Ontario Building Code, and Provincial and Municipal Acts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, with knowledge related to Microsoft Office Software.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Check.
  • Valid “G” Driver’s License in good standing.

Position Requirements

Do you have a strong attention to detail and thrive on ensuring regulations and standards are adhered to? The County of Prince Edward is looking to fill the position of Building Inspector Level One or Level Two.

Reporting to the Chief Building Official, this position will ensure the construction, plumbing, HVAC, and on-site sewage for Part 9 residential buildings is in accordance with all County By-Laws, the Building Code Act, the Ontario Building Code and other relevant acts, legislation or regulations.

The current rate of pay for this full-time position is $31.16 to $34.09 per hour, as per the CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement.
