Education/Training/Certifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and a current copy of a Driver’s abstract for review and verification
  • Clean Police check
  • Must have a physical presence and ability to intervene when warranted in event of a physical threat to fellow staff.

Job Overview
We are looking for someone who loves to be busy demonstrating an assortment of hands-on skills, in a physical customer service environment.
This is not a sit down desk jockey / ‘stand at the service counter’ type of role.

This is not a remote or ‘work from home’ role.

You will be inside, & outside, moving, lifting, installing, testing, repairing, sorting, organizing, cleaning, assisting customers and fellow staff most of your time.

Delivery vehicle operation will also be part of your week;

Saturdays will be part of your work week.

What You’ll Need:

  • Full G-class license with clean drivers abstract
  • Clean Police check
  • Experience driving, loading/unloading delivery service cube van ( 6 ton cube van).
  • Ability to lift heavy items (75+lbs), including bending, turning, squats, crouching, climbing stairs
  • Excellent time-management, organization, customer service skills

What You’ll Do:

  • Utilizing the delivery truck, pick up furniture, appliances and other items from citizens donating to the store
  • Delivery of furniture, appliances, etc, to customers homes
  • Loading and packing cardboard, scrap metal etc into the delivery truck and delivering to proper receiving locations
  • Ensure delivery vehicle cargo and cab areas are completely cleaned once per week
  • Sweep and mop the cargo area; sanitize the cab area
  • Ensure delivery truck is in proper mechanical condition, required fluids are topped up; any required maintenance is reported to the Store Manager
  • Loading and unloading customer vehicles as required
  • Repairs to donated furniture items as required
  • Testing of appliances
  • Building/assembly of shelves, display units and other items
  • Repairs and Installations in the warehouse building
  • Lifting, organizing storage containers of barrels, boxes and bags
  • Assisting staff as needed
  • Outdoor maintenance as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clientele and staff of the SSVdP Thrift Store;
