The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma and related experience, or five (5) years’ experience driving DZ vehicles. Preference will be given to those applicants who have prior experience driving a snow plow, dump truck or other similar equipment
- Ability to operate tandem and single axle trucks for road maintenance, construction and snow removal
- Previous experience in the operation of heavy equipment
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team as required
- Proven communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge and training under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Ability to complete tasks involving heavy pushing, pulling and lifting on a regular basis and work in an uncontrolled environment
- Proof of valid class ‘DZ’ driver’s license and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
Position Requirements
Are you an experienced driver? Do you enjoy working outdoors? The County is looking to fill our contract positions of Driver-Roads for the winter season.
Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the full-time contract position of Driver – Roads for a minimum of 4 months to a maximum of 6 months during the winter season. Reporting to the Roads Supervisor, the primary duties of this position will be to provide the safe operation of roads winter control equipment and the maintenance of County roads, sidewalks and bridges.
The current rate of pay for these contract positions is $24.66 per hour, plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation, as per Band 6 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement.
