Education/Training/Certifications

Qualifications:
• Diploma in Business Administration – Human Resources post-graduate certificate or
other
• relevant diploma with at least two years of related experience; or a combination of
education, training and experience which FNTI deems to be equivalent
• CHRP or working towards the designation is a definite asset
• Experience in an Indigenous setting or educational setting an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills and time management skills to meet tight deadlines
• Demonstrated coaching and facilitating skills
• Ability to use sound judgement and discretion, with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform in a complex, highly sensitive environment while maintaining
confidentiality
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective Project management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel, HRIS programs, and other
relevant technologies
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Able to read and interpret legislation, with a keen ability to research
• Ability to produce quality written documentation for reports and proposals
• Strong customer service focus with a pleasant attitude
• Knowledge in the field of Indigenous post-secondary education
• Ability to work flexible hours when required
• Ability to build effective relationships in a cross-cultural setting, specifically as it relates
to Indigenous cultures

Conditions of Employment:
• Successful candidate must provide a satisfactory CPIC
• Possession of a valid Class G driver’s license
• Willing and able to work remotely, based on operational requirement

Position Requirements

Key Responsibilities:
• Advises managers and employees on HR policies to ensure understanding and
compliance;
• Monitors relevant legislation and making new policy recommendations;
• Ensures timely and accurate responses to all inquiries;
• Assists with drafting internal communications regarding employees;
• Advises and makes recommendations to management regarding HR practices and
procedures to address and enhance employee satisfaction;
• Monitors the implementation of all recurring HR activities, evaluating and reporting results
to ensure continuous improvements;
• Collaborates with HR Manager and others to ensure the successful completion of HR
projects
• Participates as a member of the Job Evaluation Committee to conducting job analysis
and to create/revise and evaluate job descriptions;
• Evaluates job description, in accordance with FNTI’s Job Evaluation Framework;
• Advises managers and employees on the Job Description Evaluation process
• Advises and participates in creating and maintaining an efficient and effective recruitment
process, including sources and reviewing postings/advertisements;
• Assists managers in evaluating applications against the applicable hiring criteria and
recommending candidates qualified for interviews;
• Ensures an effective selection process, including appropriate panel and assessment
tools, arranging interviews and other assessments, and effective communications with
candidates throughout;
• Ensures that accurate, timely and complete correspondence is created, including HR
action requests, letter of offer/transfer/promotion, salary recommendations, employment
contract documents and other related employment documents;
• Ensures salary ranges are maintained and applied, as appropriate;
• Ensures salary range adjustments and individual employee adjustments are accurate and
made on a timely basis.
• Processes employee benefits, including tracking, enrolment, updating, advising new
and current employees, terminations, LOA, etc.
• Conducts audits, creates reports to identify irregular activities and to ensure accuracy in
submissions, trains managers and employees on Leave Management system
• Assists managers and employees with performance management policy and process;
• Ensures that the appropriate documents are provided in a timely manner;
• Provides advice with regard to performance challenges and opportunities;
• Tracks, processes and uploads documentation
• Ensures that an effective orientation program for new employees is adhered to,
including the roles of managers and employees
• Ensures that a skills inventory is maintained to inform training requirements;
• Promoting an internal responsibility system for workplace health and safety;
• Ensures that all required Health and Safety training is conducted and recorded.
• Ensures files/records for all Human Resources and payroll information, required on
behalf of FNTI and individual employees, is created, maintained and secured
appropriately;
• Updates HRIS systems, leave management software, SAGE, HR downloads, and
ensures timely input, integrity and security of data
• Ensures accurate, timely and complete correspondence is created and maintained,
including letter of offer/transfer/promotion, pay increases, performance reviews,
employment contracts and other HR documents.
