Main Purpose of the Job:

To pack, prepare, lift load, move and transport property/goods/belongings of client(s) from one location to another, then unload said property/goods/belongings, all in a safe, secure, and professional manner so as to ensure no damage is committed to said property/goods/belongings of the client.

Provide exceptional customer service to client and perform requests made by client so long as they are reasonable and do not compromise safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Help client(s) at their homes or businesses, prepare items for transportation to another destination.
• Prepare, load, and unload items
• Drive the moving truck.
• Lift heavy items, furniture, and client belongings safely and securely to prevent scratches and other damages
• Work on nights and weekends to meet customers’ requests.
• Be physically fit
• Assist fellow movers/colleagues.

Pack and Prepare Items

• At the destination, prepare and pack customers’ items to prevent damage during transit.
• Disassemble/assemble furniture
• Wrap items in bubble wrap or stretch wrap to protect them and prevent damage
• Put loose items in boxes and sealed bags
• Use straps and cardboard sheets on large items to prevent shifting and movement during transport

Load and Unload Items

• Use equipment such dollies, appliance carts and ramps to load customers’ items from their home or building to the moving truck.
• Arrange items in the truck to fit the load and prevent objects from falling or getting damaged.
• At the destination, take the items off the truck and place them in the location the client requests.

Take Inventory

• Keeping track of the customer’s items to make sure nothing gets lost or damaged.
• Write down a description of each package or item at the customer’s location prior to commencement of loading.
• Check this inventory when you reach the destination to ensure all items are unloaded and that all items are accounted for.
• Take inventory and account for all company equipment, tools, supplies, and other company property

Handle Customer Requests

• Answer clients’ questions and address requests, they have for how they want items packed, loaded, and unloaded.
• Provide information about price, time estimates and address any concerns.

Perform Cleaning and Maintenance Tasks

• Before leaving the customer’s loading site, clean up any supplies or garbage left behind during the packing process.
• Keep moving trucks clean and help perform general vehicle maintenance.

Working Conditions:

• Work both indoors and outdoors (may be exposed to rain, snow, wind, extreme heat/cold and other outdoor conditions)
• Work nights, weekends and all hours of the day including holidays.

 Physical Requirements

Lift, carry, and transport items free hand and with special equipment (dollies, carts, straps, etc) of extreme weight.
