Education/Training/Certifications

  • ASQC-CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or certification from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-year degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years minimum experience in quality assurance or related work in a supervisory or managerial role

Position Requirements

Essential Functions:

The regularly assigned duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow all Company policies and adhere to relevant legislation, i.e. Occupation Health & Safety Act (OHSA), Employment Standards Act (ESA), etc.
  • Report overall plant quality performance to plant management.
  • Promote and lead the ISO philosophy.
  • Maintaining the quality system and reporting on the performance of the system in management/business review meetings. The purpose of reviewing the system’s performance is to ensure its continuing suitability and effectiveness in satisfying the current ISO requirements.
  • Taking meeting minutes at the management/business review meetings
  • Supervising department ISO team leaders as their responsibility to the quality management meetings
  • Facilitating customer focus and process improvement using the six sigma DMAIC methodology
  • Maintain records of plant quality performance.
  • Maintain lab equipment.
  • Provide samples for sales and marketing.
  • Provide data and analysis for experiments in the lab.
  • Test and report comparative data from competitors.
  • Direct rework/repack projects.
  • Review and provide data for the tracking incidents and crediting system  (TIC’S)
  • Perform all other duties as required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Understand and insure conformance to corporate and facility policies, procedures, regulatory and other requirements in the manufacture of products.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of procedures to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Interfaces with both the customer service and sales teams, including evaluating problems and issues, and documenting and implementing corrective actions
  • Supports the development of product specifications within the capabilities of production equipment and customer requirements as required.
  • Devises, documents and implements test methods that provide effective and consistent product quality.
  • Oversee the functions of QA to ensure that production quality is consistent.
  • Recommends process changes to enhance the production process.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers or groups of co-workers, supervisors or others within the company.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work with general mathematical concepts and evaluating and interpreting quality related data and information.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete concepts.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to assemble, analyze and present data.
  • Managing and directing departmental employees.
  • Assist development and functioning of cross functional teams to solve specific problems.
  • Assist other departments with methods of data gathering.
  • Ability to draw conclusions from test data to make recommendations for development of new products.
  • Knowledge and experience in ISO 9001:2015
  • Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing concepts and principles
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and other Quality related Software.
