School Support Worker

Education/Training/Certifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic knowledge of oral Kanyen’kéha is preferred; daily usage is required
  • Completion of OSSGD or equivalent required
  • Patience, creativity and love for children required; previous experience working with children an asset
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required
  • Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Certificate as a condition of employment

Position Requirements

Under the direct supervision of the Educator(s), the School Support worker is responsible for assisting at the school (indoor/outdoor) as required; to abide by the policies and procedures as has been developed for the TTO educational programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Educators as directed, in indoor and outdoor activities
  • Supervision of children, indoors, outdoors and on field trips
  • Use Kanyen’kéha during interactions with the children/staff (support will be provided)
  • Assist with breakfast/lunch programs
  • Daily cleaning including sanitizing supplies, bathrooms, equipment, and high traffic areas
  • Know and observe school policies and regulations
  • Role model and encourage positive and respectful interactions
  • Other duties as assigned
