Skills & Experience

  • Construction 1 year (Required)
  • Skilled Labour  1 year (Required)
  • Ability to read detailed prints for cutting, forming and kitting metal products
  • Ability to read a measuring tape and Vernier calipers
  • Ability to measure accurately
  • Ability to write or print legibly
  • Basic math skills – addition, subtraction
  • Basic understanding of fraction to decimal conversion (charts provided)
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others to complete group tasks
  • Ability to keep workspace organized
  • Able to lift and carry heavy items (50lbs)
  • Able to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Reliable transportation is required

Position Requirements

Haakon Industries requires energetic, motivated and career-minded Sheet Metal employee responsible for performing tasks involving physical labour.  We are looking for self-starters, with a great attitude!

Job Duties:

  • Organize coiled steel and sheet stock in department
  • Utilize fork truck and gantry crane to load coiled steel on coil cutting line
  • Report any material quality issues or anomalies
  • Accurately cut metal blanks from raw material sheets
  • Notch blanks when required to facilitate bending
  • Notch pre-sheared blanks when required
  • Ensure proper kitting and routing of parts
  • Form blanks according to details on cut lists
  • Cut raw material sheets to size when required
  • Load raw materials into punch press, unload punched parts
  • Create work queues for turret punch press and perform detailed tool changes
  • Create work queues for turret punch press, shear and automated bending cell
  • Communicate stoppage information to department supervisors
  • Ensure finished part quality is maintained
  • Coordinate with CTL operators, brake and folder operators and point of need personnel

Shifts:

  • Rotating early morning and afternoon shifts

Hourly Wage/Salary: Starting range: $19.00 – $20.50 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week
