Education/Training/Certifications
- The ability to professionally represent the organization both internally and externally to the organization.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
- The ability to follow direction, and work independently as required.
- The ability to outline clear expectations to others.
- The candidate must be enrolled in the Human Services field of study (Developmental Services Worker, Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker or other Social Services exposure)
- Past experience working with people with special needs would be an asset.
- A valid driver’s licence (Full Level G)  is a requirement of the position and access to a reliable vehicle & a current First Aid / CPR Certificate
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19
Position Requirements
To facilitate community awareness and promote the value of inclusive employment, volunteerism, and recreational activities.
- To create a work plan to identify potential opportunities for inclusion in the community in keeping with Community Living Prince Edwards mission and mandate and our Principles of Support.
- To assist with the creating and implementation of individualized plans with people to ensure their learning objectives are a focus of the supports provided
- To provide guidance and support to people with an intellectual disability inclusive of initial preparation and training, job skill acquisition and retention;
- To check in and follow up with community partners to ensure the placements are proceeding smoothly and to bring to the attention of the Manager, any potential issues which require further follow up
- To work in collaboration with community partners
- To be aware of and report to Manager, any Health and Safety issues requiring attention
- To coordinate workshops in topics of interest and professional growth and development which focus on work, and employment related matters
- To assist people with developing a portfolio at the end of the summer
- To assist with the implementation of the College Readiness Program for youth attending post secondary school in the fall
Community Living Prince Edward is a not-for-profit organization located in Picton that provides supports and services to people with an intellectual disability and their families. This position is for a summer student position to assist with  working with young adults to experience a variety of different opportunities in the community inclusive of volunteering, employment, social and recreational experiences during the summer months.
