Position Requirements

The Summer Camp Coordinator (Supervisor) role provides on-site leadership and support to all campers and staff. The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the successful operations of day camps. This position will develop our current day camp programs, lesson plans, and innovate new and creative programs and activities.

They will be responsible for creating and editing lesson plans, as well as creating resources and updating our training program. In addition, this role will spend time inventorying current supplies and packing program kits. This position will report to the Recreational Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory duties include providing leadership to camp staff by training, coaching, motivating, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to ensure staff are meeting the expectations of their role and achieving camp objectives
  • Supports Summer Camp Team to ensure their camps are equipped to run programs in line with their lesson plans and meeting clients’ expectations by ensuring program supplies and other materials required for operations are replenished
  • Track inventory and document to ensure stocks are maintained
  • Supports with creating and maintaining a positive camp environment by demonstrating a team-player attitude, and sharing the responsibility of keeping the camp environment clean and organized
  • Ensures Health & Safety procedures are being followed and maintained, and that the Summer Camp Team is sharing the duties of keeping the camp site clean, organized, and safe in order to meet Health & Safety requirements
  • Supports and monitors the delivery of safe, high-quality programs to ensure counsellors are delivering programs in line with camp program manuals, have all the supplies they require, and are incorporating the values of Pegasus Cheer Athletics into their activities
  • Steps into direct delivery of programs as required
  • Assist with safe check-in and sign-out of campers
  • Provides supervision of campers when needed
  • Receives reports and details of incidents, such as accidents, from Summer Camp Counsellors and follows up with families and athletes
  • In-person communication with caregivers during camper drop off and pick-up
  • Ensuring camp sessions are running smoothly by developing and leading different games and activities for campers aged 4 – 12 to engage in
  • Engaging with each camper as they work through activities, and showing an interest in each camper as they work through activities
  • Ensuring that campers are treated equally, consistently, and fairly
  • Ensuring the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of campers
  • Acts as a positive role model for children, youth, and fellow staff members by embodying the values of Pegasus Cheer Athletics and following all camp guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Being self-confident and able to accept and adopt constructive feedback
  • Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protective Services
  • Other duties as assigned
