• Repetitive lifting is required, cartons average weight between 10-25 lbs, however items may reach 75 lbs on occasion
• Employees may work in twos in the event items are heavier or awkward
• Regulation 851 of the On OH&S Act is to be followed at all times to ensure a safe workplace for all employees

Destuffing sea containers

• Picking up, lifting, turning with and setting down again on a pallet, a variety of small to medium size and weight cartons containing small countertop kitchen appliances (ie. kettles, coffeemakers, toasters etc.) They are placed on pallet in a predetermined pattern. Employee turns back to begin unloading process over again until container is unloaded. Sometimes using a hand operated or battery-operated pump cart to move the loaded pallets at other time using a lift truck
• Attention to detail is important. If cartons are light the employees are expected to lift several at a time for efficiency, up and to what is determined reasonable by management
• Working in tight confines with seasonal temperature extremes
• Garbage cleanup afterwards and other general labour duties such as applying labels to boxes, light clean up, breaking down of boxes, sweeping etc.

Glue Line Label Application

• Lifting a variety of small to medium size and weight small kitchen appliances (ie. kettles, coffeemakers, toasters etc.) and placing them on a table
• Running paper labels through glue applicator and placing labels on cartons in a predetermined way
• Placing cartons onto gravity flow rollers. Lifting cartons off rollers and positioning them to run through shrink wrapper with heat tunnel. Removing them from exit conveyor and placing them on a pallet in a predetermined pattern. Very little walking involved. Employees have a workstation with anti-fatigue mats

Picking customer orders of small counter top kitchen appliances and preparing for shipping

• This involves lifting small boxes throughout the day. Weight average range is from 10 to 20 lbs.
• Worker reviews packing lists and picks and prepares the items following a specific set of instructions. They verify that items are correct and undamaged
• If shipping by courier, weigh products after placing into an outer shipping carton, seal with tape and attach address labelsCompleted packages are put onto pallets and moved by pump cart or lift truck to another area for loading into trucks by hand of pallet depending on destination and method of travel
