Youth Worker

Education/Training/Certifications
Qualifications:
– College degree or University diploma in a relevant field of study and a minimum two years’ experience working with youth at risk or in the social services sector would be beneficial NOTE: 2nd and 3rd year students looking to “job out” encouraged to apply.
– Knowledge of Youth Justice Sector, including applications of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the CYFS Act (2017) would be an asset
– Ability to utilize customized software and excellent Microsoft Office365 skills
– General knowledge of developmental needs (intellectual, emotional, physical, and social) of youth in care
– Effective communication, strong time management and organizational skills
– A willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and overnights
– Demonstrate maturity and reliability
– Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract required
– Standard First Aid/CPR/AED, UMAB, and Suicide Prevention certifications an asset, however not required to get an interview
– Up to date Immunization Record and “letter of fitness” to work rotating shifts
– Provide a CPIC/ Vulnerable Sector Check
Position Requirements
Job Description:
– The primary responsibility of a Youth Worker is care and supervision for Young Persons of the residential facility from intake to release.
– Continually assess and fulfill youth needs, including but not limited to, basic needs, legal, physical and mental health, educational, religious, etc.
– Create and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly living environment
– Ensure youth follow daily schedules for programming, cleaning, recreation, and other responsibilities.
– Deliver life skills programs for youth that complements case management plans.
– Complete all case notes/required documentation accurately and on time

Hourly Wage/Salary: Starting at $20.00/hr with 4% vacation pay out
